Best vCISO Platforms for MSPs 2026
Last updated
A vCISO platform helps a managed service provider (MSP) or an independent virtual CISO deliver security leadership to many clients: assessing their posture, setting policies, planning remediation, and reporting progress to the client's leadership.
Options are listed in alphabetical order by product name. The order is not a score; the who-should-choose section explains which kind of provider each option suits. Each product is described from its own public pages as of the date shown, and pricing is not shown. Value Aligners publishes this page and is one of the options listed.
Compliance Scorecard
A governance and risk management platform built for MSPs, MSSPs and vCISOs. It connects policies, controls, assets, risks and people in one system and covers assessments, policy management, risk registers, evidence collection and remediation tracking across frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST, CMMC, HIPAA, PCI DSS and CIS Controls.
Cynomi
An AI-powered vCISO platform for MSPs, MSSPs and consultancies. It runs guided security and compliance assessments, generates client-specific policies and risk-prioritized remediation plans, tracks tasks from a central dashboard, and exports branded, board-ready reports.
GetCybr
An AI platform for MSPs, MSSPs and security consultancies delivering vCISO and GRC services, built for service providers managing many clients. Each client is a separate tenant managed from one portfolio dashboard, and the platform covers compliance automation, FAIR-based risk quantification, third-party risk management and white-label board reporting.
RealCISO
A vCISO platform and GRC software for consultants, MSPs, MSSPs, vCISOs and in-house security teams. Providers run each client in its own workspace with assessments, evidence, policies and reporting, and the platform scores every control on a five-level maturity scale tracked over time rather than as pass or fail.
Value Aligners
Value Aligners' Virtual CISO product gives strategic security guidance and practical next actions aligned to each client's constraints and priorities, inside a platform that also covers assessments, GRC and matched solutions. Separately, its vCISO program matches independent vCISOs to pre-assessed client briefs by vertical and availability.
Vanta
A trust management and compliance automation platform with a Service Partner Program for MSPs, MSSPs, vCISOs and advisory firms. Partners use its continuous controls monitoring to deliver security and compliance services and keep visibility into the compliance of each client.

What a vCISO platform should cover
At minimum: an assessment of where each client stands, a plan of what to fix, policies to adopt, and a report that client leadership can read. Platforms differ in how much of that they generate for you, how deep their compliance evidence goes, and how they handle many clients at once.
How to evaluate a vCISO platform
Multi-client operations: check how the platform separates and summarizes clients.
Depth: decide whether you need framework evidence and continuous monitoring, or guidance and planning.
Reporting: look at a sample board report and check that it would make sense to the client's leadership.
Commercials: ask each vendor directly about pricing and partner terms.
Where a vCISO platform fits in a client engagement
Onboarding: the first assessment sets a baseline and shows the client where they stand. Scope matters most here, because everything later is measured against it.
The first ninety days: the baseline becomes a plan with owners and dates. Clients judge a vCISO service on whether that plan is specific enough to act on.
Recurring delivery: policies are adopted, remediation items close, and the platform records what changed. This is what makes the service recurring revenue rather than a one-off project.
Reporting: leadership sees progress against the baseline. A report that only lists technical findings will not survive a board meeting; one that shows direction of travel will.
Renewal: the same baseline, re-run, shows whether the client is better off than a year ago. Check that the platform keeps history rather than overwriting it.
Checklist before you trial a vCISO platform
Permission and scope: agree in writing what you will assess and when, including anything that touches a client's production systems.
Data handling: ask where client findings and evidence are stored, who at the vendor can see them, how long they are kept and how they are deleted.
One real client: run the platform against a client you already know well and compare its output with what you already believe about that environment.
Your brand and your words: check whether policies and reports carry your branding and whether you can edit the wording before a client sees it.
Your other systems: ask whether findings, tasks and evidence can move into the PSA, ticketing or documentation system you already use.
Exit: ask what you can export, in what format, if you stop using the platform. Client policies and evidence should not be trapped.
Deployment and pricing models
Most platforms in this category are hosted web applications the provider logs into, with each client separated inside the account. Some offer a self-hosted option, which matters when a client contract restricts where their data may sit.
Pricing usually depends on the number of clients or assessments, and sometimes on an edition or partner tier. Branding, onboarding and training can be priced separately. Ask each vendor for the total cost at your expected number of clients over a full contract term, not the entry price.
Frequently asked questions
What is a vCISO platform?
Software that helps an MSP or virtual CISO deliver security leadership to many clients, covering assessments, policies, remediation planning and reporting.
How are the platforms on this page ordered?
Alphabetically by product name. The order is not a score. The who-should-choose section explains which kind of provider each platform suits.
Does this page show pricing?
No. Pricing is not shown for any option. Contact each vendor for current terms.
Why is Value Aligners on a page it publishes?
Value Aligners offers a Virtual CISO product, so it belongs in this category. To keep the page fair, options are alphabetical and every product is described from its own public pages.
What is the difference between a vCISO platform and a compliance automation tool?
A vCISO platform is built around delivering security leadership to a client: assessment, policy, plan and report. A compliance automation tool is built around proving a framework is met, usually by collecting evidence continuously. Several products do both, which is why some appear on more than one of these pages.
